Why register?

We want insidedna.org.uk to provide a safe platform for discussion and debate.

You can help us achieve this by becoming a registered user and agreeing to keep to our house rules.

Your registration also gives you a login against which to save your own Inside DNA character.

House rules

Please do not swear - the website is open to people of all ages so please don’t use words that might offend.

Please do not post anything racist, sexist, homophobic or any other hateful comments – it will not be tolerated and your registration will be terminated.

Please do not post anything that puts us in legal jeopardy – this includes anything:
- defamatory to an individual or organisation.
- that is in contempt of court
- that breaks a court injunction
- that might incite someone to commit a crime
- unlawful e.g. harassing, abusive, obscene, threatening, sexual etc.
- copied from someone else, that you don’t own the copyright to.
Such comments will be immediately removed and may lead to legal proceedings by the affected party.

Please do not post any personal details - It is not acceptable to publicise your or anyone else’s contact details. This is for your own safety and that of everyone who uses this service.

Please do not post any adverts, promotional material or weblinks - If you know of a website relevant to the discussion then please tell us via the contact us page.

Please do not impersonate anybody – Impersonating someone is unacceptable.

Please do not choose an inappropriate username - anything deemed to be vulgar or offensive will be removed.

Please discuss and debate – It is one of the primary reasons this site was developed. We want to encourage a dialogue between people about these issues that in the coming years will affect all our lives.

Please keep it relevant – We know that some topics can be wide-ranging but please don’t go entirely off-course. If you do post something unrelated then your comment may be removed.

Please respect other people’s views and beliefs –Genomics covers controversial issues that people will have strong and different opinions about. Please bear in mind their impact when commenting. Personal attacks on other users have no place in an intelligent discussion.

Please comment in English – Our moderators are unfortunately not multi-lingual.

Please take a moment to think before you click the ‘submit’ button - the web has a long memory and there’s no turning back once you choose to post a comment.

Please report any comments you find in breach of these rules – The debate belongs to everybody and we welcome your help in moderating our forum.

Disciplinary procedure
If you have a comment reported by a fellow user, for breaking any of the House rules it will be blocked by our moderators and you will be notified via email.

If you have three comments reported and blocked then your registration will be terminated and you will be notified via email.

If your comment is in breach of any UK law then your registration will be terminated immediately and you will be notified via email. In exceptional circumstances insidedna.org.uk could be legally obliged to reveal your registration information and or IP address to the authorities.
